He has been a member of Brampton Minor Baseball Inc. for 36 years, everything from player, coach, executive member to board director. He has also been a part of the Peel District School Boards School Councils throughout Brampton for over 17 years, holding the role of Chair or Vice-Chair.

Bramalea, Brampton, ON - Michael J Gyovai, Brampton’s 2017 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR, Manager with the Boys and Girls Club of Peel and Executive Member with Brampton Minor Baseball, today announced his candidacy for School Trustee, Wards 7 & 8 with the Peel District School Board in the 2018 Municipal Election on Monday, October 22.
Gyovai has received a full endorsement and support of retiring Ward 7 and 8 Regional Councillor and City Champion Gael Miles.
Michael said, “Today I am very excited to announce my candidacy for School Trustee, Wards 7 & 8 with the Peel District School Board, and I am honoured by the support offered to me by my Regional Council, a professional that has been one of the catalyst for Brampton and Peel for 30 years, Gael Miles. Being Accessible, Accountable, Reliable and willing to Champion the needs, concerns and wants of very child, youth and family in my Wards will be my mission and passion while in office. No different then what I have been doing as a citizen in Brampton my whole life and in past years with the Boys and Girls Club of Peel. We need to address the issues, the matters in Peel, Wards 7 & 8 that negatively impact our families and the future readiness of our children and youth within our school board and outward into the communities.”
Michael’s model for success has been evident in the community for years, believing and participating within collaborations, partnerships and team-building initiatives for over 30 years.
“We need to focus on making sure all youth are getting the right and equitable representation from their Trustee, meaning this role must be full-time position and we need a local MPP to bring this concern to the floor of Queens Park.”, Michael said.
“We need to ensure that within our social we are adequately teaching, mentoring and helping our students with all aspects of their mental health, physical education, especially as it regards our special education programing. I students need to know they have a voice and as the Trustee, they will have my ear. I will be Accessible, Accountable, Reliable and willing to Champion the needs, concerns and wants of very child, youth and family in my Wards.
